FROM THE GUIDE / Ask before people leave
What needs to happen for us to decide this before we leave the room?
01 / RECOGNIZE
Use this near the end of a meeting when a specific decision is still open. Name it first: “We still need to choose a launch date.” Ask the question plainly.
02 / RESPOND
If the group has what it needs and the right person is present, invite the decision. If someone names a genuine gap, acknowledge it.
03 / FOLLOW THROUGH
Ask: “Who can get that answer, and when will we revisit the decision?” Repeat the agreement once: “Sam checks the budget by Thursday; we choose the date on Friday.” Use names and dates the group actually accepts. Some decisions need privacy or more time; the useful finish is clarity about the next step.
